Biking

The Outlet Camp is perfectly placed for access to some of Wānakas best cycling trails.

You’ll find something to suit all levels from cruisy lakeside tracks and smooth flowing XC trails, to technical downhills and jump lines.

From the doorstep you can pedal right onto the Hikuwai and Sticky Forest tracks, and also the more mellow Outlet track, taking you to Wānaka and the lakeside in one direction, and down the river to Albert Town and Deans Banks mountain bike trails in the other direction.

There are several maps available for the area, including Trailforks and the local Bike Wanaka trail map and app (funds go towards trail maintenance).

Trailforks also has a great app that you can download for free. Once installed, search for Wānaka and you can take the map along on your ride. Easy!

Walking & Running

Many of the trails that pass by the camp make for glorious running and walking. Head down the Mata-au / Clutha River Track towards Albert Town, or take the lakeside trail into Wānaka. Swimming spots abound along the way – perfect to cool off from a summer run. The Hikuwai Loop while mainly a bike track, also makes a great running loop.

Check out the trails on the interactive Trailforks map.

Sauna

The Outlet Camp hosts The Sauna Wānaka.

Situated a stone’s throw from the lake shore, this is a wonderful mobile 15-person sauna that gets people warm and toasty out in nature. The sauna features a traditional wood-burning Finnish fireplace, all-natural build materials, upper and lower-level seating, and a large panoramic window to enjoy the mountainous views.
